The Requirements of Participation raised the bar for the nursing home industry. The 700 plus page document defines the criterion for Quality.  That is, Quality of Care and Quality of Life. 

The concept of person-centered care is evolving into a standard versus a notion.  Healthcare Providers are re-thinking the historical service delivery model and inspecting the mechanism for change.

Arbitration Agreements: Proposed Rule

In the Fall of 2016, the Requirements of Participation (RoP) included a ruling that caused a significant amount of concern within the Skilled Nursing industry.  The rule 

"prevented facilities from entering into pre-dispute arbitration agreements with any resident or his or her representative or requiring that a resident sign an arbitration agreement a as condition of admission to the LTC facility."
