5star_snf.jpgThe Five-Star Preview Reports are available today, April 20, 2016.  Facilities will be able to review their Five-Star Reports prior to the information being published on the CMS Nursing Home Compare website.

To access your report, select the CASPER Reporting link located on the CMS QIES Systems for Providers page.  Once you are in the CASPER Reporting system, select the "Folders" button and access the Five Star Report in your "st LTC facid" folder where the st is the 2 character postal code of the state in which your facility is located, e.g., Massachusetts is represented by "MA".  The "facid" is the state assigned Facility ID of your facility.

If you attempted to obtain your Preview Report recently you may have noticed that the April 11th data was old and the new Quality Measure information was not included.  Harmony Healthcare International (HHI) encourages you to check again today, as it appears that the information has been updated

Important:  The Five-Star Help Line (800-839-9290) is available from April 25, 2016 through April 29, 2016.  Provider preview reports will continue to be available on a monthly basis in advance of public reporting and will include the dates and hours of the helpline availability.  Addressing an email to BetterCare@cms.hhs.gov is an alternative communication system to direct inquires.

Nursing Home Compare will be updated with the Five-Star data for March on April 27, 2016.

As a reminder, During the CMS Open Door Forum call on March 3, 2016, the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services announced the addition of 6 new Quality Measures (QMs). Five of the six QMs will impact the Five-Star Quality Rating Systems beginning July 2016.  Note that the anti-anxiety/hypnotic medication measure will be the only measure that will not impact the Five-Star Quality Rating. CMS stated that this measure is not included due to concerns about its specificity and appropriate thresholds for star ratings. The details of how the new QMs will impact the facility’s star rating has yet to be announced. Click Here to read our detailed blog post about the six new QMs.

Harmony Healthcare International (HHI) will be pleased to assist facilities in navigating through the addition of the new QMs to the Five-Star Quality Rating System. Harmony Healthcare International (HHI) will provide updates with information regarding the impact of these QMs on the Five-Star Rating System as it becomes available.

If you have questions about the new Five-Star Preview Report or the new Quality Measures, please contact Harmony Healthcare International by clicking here or calling our office at (800) 530-4413.
